Home to award-winning chocolatier, distiller, bakers, butchers, fish mongers, ice cream makers and an 880-year-old food market. In Saffron Walden, there really is a food for everyone! The products are not just sold here but, in many cases, are made here, in town, every day.
The shops and cafes are celebrated for their personal touch, with many business owners greeting customers. From locally roasted coffee to handmade scones, pasta and waffles, there is a tasting sensation awaiting all food explorers!

Often cited as a beautiful market town with picturesque buildings, Saffron Walden has a fabulous museum, many mazes, and notable visitors, including Oliver Cromwell and Samuel Pepys. All this in addition to being named after the world's most valuable spice!

Bishop's Stortford, meanwhile, was an important part of the Bishop of London's estate and the centre of the malt trade in the 18th Century. The River Stort Navigation provided crucial trade links for the region to the East End of London, which transformed the town's fortunes.

A culinary journey that celebrates the food and retailing history behind the many buildings, food businesses, and award-winning markets that still operate in these towns today!
Tour

I am an experienced former food buyer for Selfridges Food Halls. I designed the food experience for day visitors at tourist venues such as Blenheim Palace and the Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh.
I love great food, especially when combined with fabulous service, and I am always curious about the people behind the menus and products.
Creating Hello Food Tours has been the perfect way to showcase the many local food heroes and food businesses that I buy from, work with, and am lucky enough to have on my doorstep!
